Miss OLAG and PGM Pageantry

The true nature of every garment is tucked behind its outer seam. Saturday, June 16th, unveiled the inner beauty of bold students who dared to pursue pageantry at Our Lady of Grace Senior High School, Mamponteng. The evening provided the perfect ambiance for the selection of competent maidens to serve as symbols of beauty and embodiments of community ideals. Beyond the scope of visual appeal, the event was a tourney of inner attributes, where varying talents and moral standards were put to the test. After auditions had slashed the competition down to ten proficient contenders, it was time to prove their worth as to who was most deserving to be crowned as Miss OLAG and Perfect Gentleman 2024.

This year, the gentlemen stood in high esteem as the centrepiece of the event, defying all odds against the usual perception of male pageantry as superficial and unnatural. Following the maiden edition with higher anticipation and dedication, the Perfect Gentleman 2024 edition highlighted a fearless male exuberance driven by the classic masculine zeal towards any competition. The inclusion of more contestants in the male division this year spiked the audience’s attention as compared to last year’s unopposed candidate.

Standard assessments of personality, skill, charisma, and community involvement were conducted through private interviews, extensive training, creative performances, and public speaking, among other evaluations. These requirements satisfied the intent of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) to establish pageantry as a means to actively promote self-confidence, broadcast gender equity, and demonstrate the advantages of social skills to all viewers, most importantly the students. The elements of diversity, ethnicity, and maturity resonated throughout the event, indicating a constructive flux in personal growth for the young contestants as critical issues of our society were addressed through innovative plays and bold recitals.

Illuminating the hearts of their supporters, our twenty contestants from both gender categories put forth their utmost dedication and effort to rally the audience behind their philosophies and project their qualities to favour the hands of the judges. Indeed, the stage was set ablaze by their glamorous performances, keeping the audience on their feet instead of their seats. All things considered, the contest came to a successful end with Miss Awurama Bimpomaah Bedu-Addo of 2 Science 3 coronated as Miss OLAG 2024. Along with the crown and sash came a whopping cash prize of one thousand Ghana Cedis, a plaque, and a vital responsibility to serve her subjects well. Standing on both wings of the crown were Miss Wilhelmina Unibonmor Nkumbaan of 2 Science 3 and Miss Isabella Yaa Serwaa Kyei of 2 Arts 1 as the first and second runner-up, respectively, claiming cash prizes of six hundred and four hundred Cedis, respectively. On the flip side, Master Miguel Nuochem Ziekah of 2 Arts 1 emerged victorious as the Perfect Gentleman 2024 and was crowned alongside Kelvin Eshun of 2 Business and Gyidie Kwame Fredua Adu-Gyasi of 2 Science 2 to assume their duties in unison.

Undoubtedly, this memorable event has had a transformative impact on all who participated in it; from the students to the judges to all guests who honoured our invitation with their presence, we say thank you. And to the very contestants who charmed us with their performances, you were the heart of the event; we appreciate you. A special thanks goes out to all members of the Miss OLAG Committee. All efforts put into the coordination of activities behind the curtains made the event a success. The significance of pageantry to the OLAG community transcends an annual ritual; it serves to identify, nurture, and unleash the potential of our students. After all, how else will they be fit to transform society?
