6 students participate in the Summer Scholars programme by University of Notre Dame

Six students from Our Lady of Grace Senior High School (OLAG SHS), Mamponteng have been admitted and participating in the Summer Scholars programme by University of Notre Dame in the United States of America since June 10, 2023. The students are Alphonse Jasmine Norkplim Agbemabiawo, Antoinette Dadzie, Joseph Marfo Nketia and Mary Amah Zimi. The rest are Angel Sarpong Antwi-Mensah and Jude Theophilus Nii Kwei Kweifio-Okai.

The Summer Scholars Programme, a flagship two-week intensive and challenging college-level course under the auspices of the Office of Pre-College Programs are taught and facilitated by faculties of the University of Notre Dame.
The students will be exposed to the rudiments of university education over their stay in the States. Jude and Joseph will be participating in entrepreneurial immersion modules with Angel and Mary sitting for courses in research in computing and life sciences respectively. Jasmine and Antoinette will be participating in neuroscience and global health modules respectively. The students will collaborate on coursework as well as projects that invigorate and deepen their teamwork spirits, leadership and desire and passion for university education.

Included in their itinerary while in the States are excursions, community services and opportunities to socialize with parishioners of Our Lady of Grace Parish in Edina Minnesota, USA. These academic and social facets of the trip will expose the students to life and experiences outside the boarders of Ghana.

The students will be expected back in Ghana after June 24, 2023 to continue with their studies and preparations towards their high school leaving examination, the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
