In a heartwarming display of community service and leadership, the immediate and current Students Representative Council (SRC) of Our Lady of Grace Senior High School, Mamponteng by their Patron, Mr. Emmanuel Antwi, and the school’s Headmaster, Fr. Sylvester Frimpong, handed over a renovated Abrade D/A Primary School to its administrators on June 26, 2025.
The project, which began during the Lenten season, was sparked by a visit from students and the Headmaster to celebrate Mass at Abrade D/A Primary School. During their visit, they were moved by the deplorable state of the classrooms, which were not conducive for learning. The students, determined to make a difference, approached the school’s administration with a proposal to renovate the primary school.
Through tireless efforts, the students were able to rally support from the school community, parents, and well-wishers, raising over GH₵ 34,000. These funds were utilized to carry out internal and external renovations of the school, including repainting the entire classroom block. Additionally, 15 new dual desks were donated to the school, while existing furniture in poor condition were repaired.
The renovation project covered five classrooms and two store rooms, providing a more conducive learning environment for the pupils. The handover ceremony, which marked the culmination of the project, featured an opening speech by the Boys’ Prefect of Our Lady of Grace SHS, Master Francis-Pio Sapaat. In his address, he expressed gratitude to everyone who supported the project and urged everyone to continue making efforts to develop the school and contribute to making Ghana a better place.
The Head Teacher of Abrade D/A Primary School, Mr. Richard Nkrumah, expressed his deepest appreciation to the OLAG community for their generosity and kindness. He emphasized the importance of giving and pledged to instill this value in his pupils, noting that “even though we do not have, we must do our best to give.”
A pupil from Abrade D/A Primary School also took to the stage to express her gratitude to the OLAG community on behalf of her school. Other SRC executives shared their experiences and highlighted the journey of the project, from conception to completion.
The ceremony concluded with a photo session, capturing the joy and gratitude of the Abrade D/A Primary School community.
