On July 19, 2025, the campus of the University of Ghana, Legon, became a launch pad for the future. Young innovators from across the nation gathered for the Robotics Inspired Science Education (RiSE) competition — Ghana’s official qualifier for the upcoming World Robotics Olympiad in Singapore. Among the many schools that participated, one name echoed through every category: Our Lady of Grace Senior High School, Mamponteng.
With quiet focus and fierce determination, these students proved that brilliance doesn’t only sit in theory — it moves through motion sensors, code logic, and machines that get work done! In the Robomission Senior category, Our Lady of Grace acquired the top three spots — placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, a clean and commanding sweep that showcased not just preparation, but deep understanding and strategic execution.
They continued their dominance with 1st place in the Robosports Senior category, a fast-paced challenge that rewards creativity, engineering, and real-time problem-solving. But they didn’t stop there. In the Open Category of the Autonomous Rescue Challenge, where robots are designed to navigate and respond independent of human control, Our Lady of Grace placed 1st and 2nd, once again demonstrating innovation beyond expectation.
These victories were not accidental. They were built on resilience, tenacity, and ingenuity — the kind forged through long nights of testing, hours of failed trials, and relentless teamwork. What they achieved wasn’t just a trophy haul — it was a declaration: that Ghana’s next generation of STEM leaders is ready.
Their success is a testament to what is possible when students are empowered with modern resources to augment their wits in problem-solving. In a world racing toward automation and artificial intelligence, these young champions from Mamponteng have already taken their place on the starting line — and they are not looking back.
As they prepare to represent Ghana at the World Robotics Olympiad in Singapore, they carry with them more than just national colours. They carry a story of excellence, innovation, and a mandate that the future is not to be awaited — it’s being built through every idea materialised by the craft of students like these.
