In a remarkable stride towards global academic exposure and cross-cultural learning, four students from Our Lady of Grace Senior High School, Mamponteng, recently participated in the 2025 Pre-College Summer Scholars Programme in the United States of America. This immersive academic experience was hosted by the prestigious University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
The selected students — Blessing Wenawume Aduko, Cecil Tuglo, Francess-Marie Maame Gyasiwaa Sarsah, and John Elliot Sena Koffie — spent approximately three weeks in the United States under the guidance and mentorship of the school’s chaplain, Rev. Fr. Godfred Akwasi Owusu. Their journey began in Edina, Minnesota, where they were graciously hosted by parishioners of the Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. This warm welcome set the tone for what would become a transformational experience.
The students later proceeded to the University of Notre Dame, where they engaged in a series of intellectually stimulating programmes and vibrant extracurricular activities. Over two weeks, they interacted with peers from various parts of the world, participated in academic workshops, and explored leadership, innovation, and personal development — all in an environment designed to challenge, inspire and nurture young scholars.
This opportunity not only broadened their understanding of tertiary education beyond Ghana, but also expanded their social network, sharpened their leadership acumen, and greatly boosted their self-confidence.
It is worth noting that this life-changing opportunity was made possible through a full scholarship sponsored by the University of Notre Dame. Deep appreciation is extended to the Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Edina for their hospitality, to the University of Notre Dame for their commitment to grooming future leaders, and to Mary Lynn and Warren Staley, whose generosity and vision continue to open doors of excellence and impact for young African scholars.
Indeed, this experience stands as a beacon of what is possible when faith, education, and global collaboration intersect. OLAG is proud of her ambassadors and remains committed to moulding confident, morally upright, and globally minded individuals — living true to our cherished motto: “Knowledge, Morality, Service.”
