What’s your definition of victory? Amidst the reward of glory, the satisfaction of self-accomplishment and the entitled package of pride in the form of bragging rights; there’s always a peculiar unit of measurement for those who take genuine pleasure in their craft.
Drenched in the depths of their own curiosity, the OLAG Robotics Team tinkered their way through to the final stage of the 2025 ROBOFEST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, held at the Southfield Campus of Lawrence Technical University (LTU). As facilitators, LTU rewarded scholarships up to $80,000 in their college programmes for top three teams in the ranks of the various categories.
Tackling the most popular event of the competition, the Game Event, OLAG’s Team Legacy represented Kumasi, Ghana in the Senior Division Parking Valet Game, competing against national champions from 32 other countries. Emerging in third place, each team member was awarded a whopping $56,000 scholarship to LTU, concurrently safeguarding a promising future in their educational trajectory with technology-oriented programmes.
Undoubtedly, the continuous development of such a firm reputation as a formidable team and a force to be reckoned with in the terrain of innovation has earned the Robotics Club its stripes. Their persistence and determination in various competitions, with evident increment in performance over the years, has played a pivotal role in exhibiting OLAG and Ghana to the world, unlocking new windows of opportunities for other students and those soon to come.
All too often, in the season of celebration, we tend to underplay or totally forget the magnitude of sacrifices made behind the scenes to guarantee success. Besides the dedication of the entire Robotics Club to prop up their representatives to victory, the guidance of their abled patron Sir Zacchaeus Amoako and the provisions made by other financial and technical contributors afforded the team members a sound mind to work at full capacity.
