Ghana Robofest 2025

Great minds think alike, yet still the need to challenge each other continually outranks the comforts of cognitive indifference. Science continues to teach us that through competition we recurrently increase the threshold of our capacity in order to tap into more sophisticated realms of ingenuity. It is in this light that Robofest, an annual national robotics competition, ignites an intellectual rivalry among secondary schools across the country. This year OLAG presented four remarkable teams: Team Legacy, Team Catalyst, Team Cipher, and Team Nexus, all under the dedicated leadership of Mr. Zaccheus Darko and Mr. Samuel Ebo Sackey.

The competition took place on Saturday, January 19, at Christ the King International School in Accra. Eager to survey the competition grounds beforehand, the team set out a day earlier in preparation, after months of relentless training and commitment. Besides the thrill of partaking in the contest, interactions with peers from other notable institutions, including Prempeh College, Right to Dream Academy, and Mount Oliver, augmented their overall experience.

The program commenced promptly at 9 AM, with the teams diving into three challenging categories: Bottle Sumo, Game, and Unknown Mission Challenge. Waiving the tension that fogged the premises, our participants remained intently focused on their final adjustments and calibrations. Experience from previous competitions had taught them the value of maintaining composure and a quick-witted attitude on game day.

Unparalleled in their battle strategy, our teams showcased remarkable performances, emerging victorious in the Bottle Sumo category. Through resiliency, they managed to stay in the ranks by clinching to the third and fifth places in the Game category, alongside a commendable second place in the Unknown Mission Challenge.

In a nutshell, the Robofest competition never fails to test the minds of the students, challenging them to push beyond the limits of their capabilities to discover new levels of inventiveness, and they pursue such heights with outmost pleasure and enthusiasm. Through this work ethic, the exploits their teamwork concurrently promote the school’s name and encourages individuals of our community to excel in their own fields. In hindsight, these talents guarantee a promising future in the realm of technology and innovation.
