The Students Representative Council of Our Lady of Grace Senior High School, Mamponteng, recently organized a transformative Breast Cancer Seminar to educate and empower the school community on this lethal ailment. The seminar featured esteemed officials from Breast Care International, a renowned Ghanaian NGO committed to creating awareness, promoting early detection, advancing research, and supporting survivorship in the fight against breast cancer.
The event, chaired by the Assistant Headmistress Madam Comfort Odehe, began with a comprehensive presentation by the Breast Care International team, shedding light on the importance of early detection and preventive measures. Their discussions highlighted the role of education and regular screenings in reducing the risks associated with breast cancer. The insights shared were both informative and inspiring, leaving a lasting impact on the students and staff present.
A key highlight of the seminar was the opportunity for breast cancer survivors to share their personal journeys. Their stories of resilience and courage resonated deeply with the audience, serving as a powerful reminder of the importance of community support as a beacon of hope to the downhearted.
Consequently, the school’s Literary Group delivered a captivating performance that emphasized the seminar’s message in a creative and engaging manner. The atmosphere was further enlivened with a karaoke session, which allowed students to relax and connect in a lighthearted yet meaningful way.
As part of the seminar’s prime objectives, female students were screened with the support of Peace Specialty Hospital and the school’s medical team. This initiative provided an invaluable service, ensuring that students received professional attention and guidance regarding their health.
The Breast Cancer Seminar was a resounding success, blending education, art, and medical support to address a pressing health concern. By organizing such events, the Students Representative Council demonstrated their commitment to fostering a well-informed and health-conscious school community. The seminar not only educated but also empowered attendees to take proactive steps toward their health and well-being.
